WeaverGirl Project:
Digital Oasis of Serenity

A video about the birth of WeaverGirl, a virtual persona that embodies emotion algorithms. This persona, in the rest of the project, transcends into different characters, providing emotional AI service solutions for humans who engage in emotional labor in their work life. This short portrays the sublime scene where data and wavelengths formed the digital oasis of serenity, where WeaverGirl is born.

The digital short is inspired by the emotional safe haven that the algorithm has given us with digital apps like Mindfulness and Relika. I animated data with CG, which assembled into an oasis, a landscape of serenity.

WeaverGirl Project

a. The WeaverGirl Project is an interdisciplinary art project, initiated by the Shanghai-based performance collective _ao_ao_ing ensemble. The project makes live performances, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary collaborations.

b. The project traverses through the complex terrain of emotional commercialization and emotional labor, tracing our emotional existence in the digital age. It collects first-hand materials from emotional service workers, engages in interdisciplinary conversations, and makes online happenings.

She manifests through a fictional emotion-tech company. This meta-narrative is weaved at the same time when the project progresses in reality…
